Health Secretary Professor Lo Chung-mau described the CMHHK as a milestone in advancing Chinese medicine (CM), extending its role beyond primary care to secondary and tertiary healthcare. The hospital will act as a flagship institution, fostering collaboration with local, Mainland, and international partners to promote CM development and research.
The CMHHK will provide inpatient and outpatient services focused on CM, CM-predominant, and integrated Chinese-Western medicine. It will also serve as a training and research hub, offering clinical internships for local universities and partnering on CM innovation and proprietary medicine development.
The logo design incorporates traditional Chinese architectural elements, including the character “中,” a mountain range motif, and a moon gate symbolizing openness and cultural richness.
The hospital is fully government-funded under a public-private partnership, with Hong Kong Baptist University commissioned as operator through the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited.

政府今日（十月九日）宣布正式命名香港首間中醫醫院為「香港中醫醫院」，並公布該院院徽。醫務衞生局局長盧寵茂教授表示，設立香港中醫醫院是本港決心推動中醫藥發展的里程碑，政府正全速推展各項開院籌備工作，以期該院從明年年底起分階段投入服務。
盧寵茂教授表示：「香港中醫醫院作為香港首間以中醫服務為主的醫院，將可帶領香港中醫藥服務由基層醫療邁進第二和第三層醫療服務，是本港中醫藥發展的重大突破。同時，作為本地中醫藥旗艦機構，香港中醫醫院將肩負起先驅和轉化者的角色，與中醫藥業界多方正面互動，充分發揮香港在中醫藥的傳統優勢，攜手促進中醫藥在本港、粵港澳大灣區以至國際的發展，為粵港澳大灣區中醫藥高地建設和國家中醫藥發展大局作出貢獻。」
香港中醫醫院的院徽以該院大樓外形為設計主體，結合「中」字在內，並融入大樓的建築特點，包括恍如山勢的大樓線條及色調，以及仿照中國古典園林「月門」的設計，喻意引領公眾走進中醫藥博大精深的世界。院徽整體設計既展示中國傳統建築特色，也呈現了中華文化色彩，標示了該院在香港醫療系統的獨特定位。
香港中醫醫院將致力於提供純中醫、以中醫為主，以及中西醫協作形式的臨床服務，當中涵蓋政府資助的住院及門診服務。該院會同時承擔教學及培訓、科研、多方協作和創造健康價值的重要使命，包括為三所本地大學的中醫學院或中醫藥學院學生提供臨床實習機會，並成為執業中醫師的臨床培訓平台。此外，該院會聯同本地、內地和海外的大學及教育機構進行臨床科研、中成藥開發，以及其他與中醫藥相關的研究，推動中醫藥科研發展。
位於將軍澳百勝角路一號的香港中醫醫院採用公私營協作模式，由政府全資興建。政府在二○二一年透過招標程序委託香港浸會大學（浸大）作為承辦機構，而浸大其後亦按服務契約的要求，於同年成立一所擔保有限公司（即浸大中醫醫院有限公司）作為營運機構，負責該院的管理、營運及保養。
